The Quest to Keep Myself Occupied – Part D, The Immigration Museum

Australia is a nation of immigrants and what is left of the native population. More than even Canada or the United States, it is the immigrant story that makes up the story of the country. In Melbourne, there is a museum that looks at that history.

The Immigration Museum provides quite a fascinating look at the development of Australia. And it's also disturbing. But it is quite an interesting presentation. The presentation did make clear Australia's very racist roots. (Not that Canada is any bastion of purity on that matter.) But the racism did have an ironic twist or two.

And I found out the origin of the word “tariff.”
