And I Thought Only England Sent Their Convicts to Australia

I was crossing a bridge along the Yarra River in the central area of Melbourne. The bridge has all these glass panels showing all the different countries from where people immigrating to Australia originated. When I saw the one for Canada, I was surprised to find that Canada also sent some political headaches to Australia, the prison. It is hard to see in this photo, but right in the middle of the panel it says 1838 – convicts.
