Wikipedia suggests that the train ride from Da Nang to Hue is particularly nice. So with that in mind, I was able to turn away all the people who kept telling me to take a motorbike ride over the pass between Da Nang and Hue. If that wasn't enough to help me say no, I also had the memory of riding for a day with Son, on the back of his bike. My ass still hurts. There was no way I could tolerate two days of riding on a bike. And then there would have been the price. Figures that were quoted to me started at 50 dollars. Of course, I would be able to reduce that significantly, but still, it wasn't what I wanted to do.
I headed over to the train station and got a ticket, for 3 dollars. Then I waited around for the train to arrive and get going.
The train arrived and I climbed aboard. We were off. And after clearing the edge of Da Nang, it was clear that, yes, the ride was quite spectacular. The railway line hugs the coastline for a couple of hours. For a lot of the way along the coast, the line is high on the cliff overlooking the coast. It is really amazing to see. It was a great way to get to Hue.
